Neutrons Canada is the national organization responsible for governing, managing, and representing Canada’s infrastructure program for research and development using neutron beams. Membership is open to Canadian universities, government laboratories, business corporations, and other organizations that conduct research using neutron beams.

Vote at meetings of Members, including the Annual General Meeting. Each Member organization has one vote in the governance of Neutrons Canada.

Membership Eligibility
Membership is held by the organization rather than by individuals. Membership is available to Canadian universities, government agencies, business corporations, and other Canadian organizations that conduct research using neutron beams.
Member Representatives
Each Member organization appoints a Member Representative who serves as the organization’s official liaison with Neutrons Canada. The Member Representative is responsible for:
- Acting as the Member’s official representative at meetings of Members and voting on the Member’s behalf.
- Receiving general correspondence and notices from Neutrons Canada.
- Serving as the primary contact between the Member and the Corporation.
Because membership is held by institutions, Member Representatives are typically drawn from senior leadership positions, such as:
- A representative of the Office of the President;
- A Vice-President, Research; or
- An individual holding an equivalent executive position.
Members may appoint an alternate representative when required.
Membership Fee
The membership fee is $5,000 per year. Member fees are established by the Board of Directors and approved by the Members at the Annual General Meeting.

Applications are reviewed by the Board of Directors. Following Board approval, Neutrons Canada will issue an invoice to the designated institutional contact. Upon payment of the membership fee, the organization will be admitted to Membership in Neutrons Canada.
