Dave Tucker

Mr. Dave Tucker is the Assistant Vice-President of Research (Nuclear) at McMaster University, home of Canada’s largest source of neutrons, the McMaster Nuclear Reactor. He has more than thirty years of experience in progressive leadership roles in the Canadian and international nuclear sector. Prior to his appointment as McMaster Assistant VP of Research (Nuclear), he most recently served as head of Radiation Safety Technical Services at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna, Austria. He had served as McMaster’s Senior Health Physicist before leading the IAEA’s radiation safety and dosimetry services for its global operations.
Mr. Tucker’s established track record of bringing together diverse stakeholders, combined with his experience in nuclear research and innovation in medicine and energy, has enabled him to offer leadership for commercialization in the nuclear sector. He believes that McMaster’s approach to integrating research with education is incredibly important to the sector, particularly as it relates to training the next generation of leaders and creating a workforce that better reflects Canada.
Mr. Tucker holds an M.Sc. in Medical Physics from McMaster University and a number of professional certifications.
